All About Me

Again, welcome to my website. I'm Ken Greene and here's what you need to know about me...

In Short. I'm 45 years old and I live in Chicago, Illinois. I was born in a small town called Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. I grew up as the youngest of six children. Both my parents are deceased. None of my siblings live in the same state as any of the others.

My Life. I'm a Christian, what you would call a holy-roller, fanatic and Jesus-Freak. I proudly wear those names, too! I'm also a disabled veteran, due to several injuries sustained while I was in the military. I have arthritis bad enough that I get compensation from the VA. Not a lot, but enough to help get by.

My Work. By trade, I am a notary public, commissioned in the state of Illinois. By hobby, I am a computer geek. More on that, later. Because I don't have a car (really not necessary in the big city), I don't get to do much notary work. Besides, normal notary work in the state of Illinois pays exactly $1 per page and that's really not enough to live on.

My Love. I have been dating the woman that God put here for me a long time ago. Midalia Igartua (Mickie) and I met in church in late 2005, but really didn't get to know each other until we went on a mission trip to Puerto Rico in February of 2006. We were placed in a short play together and (from my perspective) she kept doing little things that, as an actor, were anathama - wrong stage positioning, turning her back on the audience and things like that. Since I had a background as a professional actor, I tried to give her tips on how to present herself on stage. She kept doing the same stuff, and as far as I could see, she was doing it just to spite me. It turned out I was right in that, because she thought I was arrogant and I was getting on her nerves (I tend to do that to people), so she did exactly the opposite of that I said to do. On purpose, no less. When we came back to the states and resumed our lives, she started missing me (later revealed) and called me up one day to invite me to go to Six Flags Great America for a day that was reserved for her workplace. I was expecting to go with a few adults, but was surprised when she showed up with her grandsons in tow. I had a good time, nonetheless and it's there that we started dating. As of this writing, it's been seven months and we've had just a couple of rough edges to work through (we are from different cultures, after all). So the latest news is that I asked Mickie to marry me. We are officially engaged as of Christmas 2006. We are planning an October 2007 wedding. You can read about our plans at our MyWedding.com site.

My Health. I sometimes think I've become the testing ground for diseases. As I mentioned, I have osteoarthritis. Add to that, type II diabetes, high cholesterol, GERD (or acid reflux), neuropathy, hypertension, myopia and male pattern baldness (the last one is very limited, but if I let my hair grow out a bit, you can tell I have a balding spot). I take fourteen different medications for a total of 18 pills per day. That's not counting any supplements I may take. I mentioned myopia (near-sightedness) and the latest development there is that I am officially old now: I have bifocals. Thank you Ben Franklin. Lastly, I've had three surgeries on my left foot - an arthroscopic, a modified lee to stabalize the ankle and a screw put in my fifth metatarsal after I fractured it. I've worn either a cast or a camwalker from June until November 2006. My next surgery was for a pyogenic granuloma on my stomach.

Update: Since I originally wrote this page, I had another surgery to remove the aforementioned screw in my foot. Also, in January of this year, I was having chest pains when I would exert myself. I saw the doctor and she admitted me to the hospital. That was on Friday. On Monday, I had a stent placed in my heart due to a blockage of 99% in the main artery that supplies the heart.

Did I mention I'm officially getting old?
